Daily hive

Daily Hive Vancouver is your inside source for Vancouver happenings. We are the largest digital-only publication in Western Canada. Daily hive has the most engaged audience in Vancouver with over 2 million monthly unique visitors and large social media following, connecting Vancouverites with their city.

In July 2008, Vancity Buzz was created in a South Vancouver basement by childhood friends Karm Sumal and Manny Bahia. They began with writing about topics of interest including developments, sports and politics. Their early mission was to highlight the positives of Vancouver, a world-class city in their minds. Growth was slow the first year but Sumal and Bahia stayed persistent with consistent and diversified content.

Covering everything from the little guy to major events that shape Vancouver has led Vancity Buzz to where it is today. Its dedication to social media has spurred a loyal Vancouver following and relayed content to the masses.

In 1984 something happened that forever changed the local beer industry: Granville Island Brewing opened the doors to Canada’s first microbrewery. And in doing so, we opened hearts and minds to a whole new beer drinking experience.

Driven by a firm belief that the West was ready for a premium, natural, unpasteurized beer Granville Island Brewing introduced locals to our now famous Island Lager.

And it wasn’t long before we were adding more new and unique, West Coast inspired craft beers to our lineup. In celebration of our heritage, we name each new GIB beer after iconic Vancouver locations that embody the West Coast lifestyle.

Over the years, we’ve become more than just the local brewery. We focus much of our sustainability efforts towards ongoing community investment, including sponsorship and charitable support, involvement with local sports teams, community organizations and more. We’re just as proud of that as we are about what we put in our bottles.

It’s Good to Be Here!

Abreast In A Boat

Abreast In a boat

Abreast In A Boat is a group of people who have been treated for breast cancer from the Metro Vancouver area. We paddle to make a difference ~ to raise awareness about breast cancer and to encourage all people to live full and active lives. We are a registered charitable society and our goal is to send a message of hope to people who have had a breast cancer diagnosis, and to all those who support them.

In the dragon boat we paddle together, support each other, learn from one another, laugh together, enjoy competition, overcome our fears, encourage each other, make new friends, take pride in our accomplishments, and break the silence of cancer.

What began as a medical study in 1996 has grown to inspire the formation of about 150 survivor teams worldwide. We have six home crews in the Metro Vancouver area based in Vancouver, Delta, Richmond, Port Moody, and Fort Langley.
