Visiting Team Welcome Party

Welcome to North America’s largest and most competitive dragon boat championship. With over 200 teams from 12 countries around the world expected for the 30th anniversary of the Festival, we know that you’ll enjoy paddling at this premiere event.

Registrants in all divisions (Mixed, Women’s, Junior) will race 4 times over the weekend on a 500m course. The top teams in the Mixed and Women’s divisions will be invited to participate in our marquee Guts and Glory 2,000m race, where up to 18 boats will race at 10 second intervals.

Specialty races are held on the 500m course, with the exception of the International Cup and Barrier Free Canada Cup. Specialty races change from year to year, but usually include the U24 Cup, Breast Cancer Cup, Grand Dragon’s Cup, and Open Championship; register for these races online at https://register.dragonboatbc.ca/code/.

For more information on the Barrier Free Canada Cup and if your non-profit organization would like to apply to have a team in the race, or the International Cup, please email info@dragonboatbc.ca.

All races at the Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival are held in BuK boats. IDBF 202a wooden paddles and approved lifejackets will be available for racers to use. Please note that all racers must wear lifejackets at all times on the water.

Paddlers are allowed to bring their own lifejackets and paddles. Paddles must meet the IDBF 202a specification for use at Dragon Boat BC events. Paddlers supplying their own lifejackets must ensure that the lifejackets are approved by the Department of Transport (DOT), Canadian Coast Guard (CCG) or Department of Fisheries and Oceans (DFO). Inflatable life jackets are not allowed at Dragon Boat BC races.

Rules of racing can be found online under the “For Racers” section. Please note that there is no manager or steersperson meeting for the Concord Pacific Vancouver Dragon Boat Festival.
